Staple Packages Distributed to Disabled Ojol Drivers

Dozens of disabled online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers received packages of basic necessities on Thursday (9/4).

The assistance was handed over by Central Jakarta Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) Chairwoman, Witri Yenny Arifin, at Cafe Difabis, located within the Central Jakarta Mayor's Office area.

In addition to receiving packages, the ojol drivers were also treated to a lunch gathering with Central Jakarta Mayor Arifin and representatives from Jakarta Baznas Bazis.

Witri Yenny Arifin said that Central Jakarta DWP, in collaboration with Jakarta Baznas Bazis, distributed staple food packages and hosted the lunch together with dozens of disabled ojol drivers.

"We invited 15 disabled ojol drivers for lunch and to strengthen our bond. These individuals are truly remarkable. They face life's challenges with optimism and perseverance despite their limitations," she shared.

Central Jakarta Mayor Arifin stated that Cafe Difabis serves as a shared home for ojol drivers with disabilities.

"We are committed to providing similar opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in building Jakarta," she emphasized.

He also requested assistance from Jakarta Social Agency to help examine disabled ojol drivers, especially those who are hearing impaired, to receive free hearing aids.

"Hopefully, this assistance will encourage disabled ojol drivers to keep striving with enthusiasm and bring blessings to their beloved families who always pray at home," he added.

Indonesian Volunteer Deaf Ojol Community Head, Fika Chasasmeta, expressed gratitude and happiness for the invitation from the Central Jakarta Government and DWP.

"Hopefully, this meeting will establish synergy between the deaf ojol drivers and the Central Jakarta Government through various beneficial programs for people with disabilities," she said.
